LUBBOCK, TX — According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch release, the statewide average price for regular unleaded fuel in Texas is currently $2.71 per gallon. This is 10 cents lower than last week and 32 cents lower than prices recorded at this time last year.
Among major metropolitan areas in Texas, El Paso drivers have some of the highest average prices at $3.04 per gallon. Meanwhile, Lubbockites enjoy the lowest prices in the state, with an average of just $2.59 per gallon.
On a national scale, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $3.15. This figure reflects a five-cent decrease from last week and a 39-cent drop compared to last year.
The Energy Information Administration reports that crude oil and refined gasoline stocks are on the rise, with U.S. crude oil stocks increasing by 5.5 million barrels and gasoline inventories rising by 900,000. Meanwhile, gasoline demand has stabilized after the disruptions caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
If supply stays steady and demand follows the usual patterns for fall, analysts believe that gasoline prices could keep dropping in the coming weeks.
