Two Killed in Big Spring House Fire

BIG SPRING, TX — Two people are pronounced deceased early Thursday morning, November 21, in a fire at a home in Big Spring. The victims, later identified as Daneilla Samiento, 41, and Chris Salazar, 37, were found inside the house after firefighters responded to the scene.

According to the Big Spring Fire Marshal, the fire broke out around 2:34 a.m. in the 1400 block of Park Street. When fire crews arrived, they observed flames coming from the back side of the single-story home.

Two residents were inside at the time, and both were rushed to Scenic Mountain Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the blaze.

The Big Spring Fire Department responded with three fire trucks, the Battalion Chief, and the Fire Marshal. The fire was contained, and crews cleared the scene by 8 a.m.

In a press release, Fire Marshal Hendrickson confirmed the fire was accidental and traced its cause to an electrical heating device. Investigators also revealed that no working smoke detectors were in the home at the time of the fire.

The incident remains under investigation, but the cause has been officially ruled accidental.
