ANDREWS, TX — A 35-year-old oil worker, Daniel Carrasco, tragically lost his life after being struck by debris from a malfunctioning high-pressure valve on an oil rig, according to the Andrews County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred on December 12 at Sendero Rig #103, located about 14 miles east of Andrews on State Highway 176. Sheriff Rusty Stewart reported that Carrasco had been working on a blowout preventer (BOP) when the valve failed, leading to the fatal impact.
Emergency responders, including Andrews County deputies and EMS personnel, arrived at the scene and transported Carrasco to Permian Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that Carrasco’s body has been sent to Lubbock for an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation.
