LUBBOCK, TX – According to a press release, Texas Anti-Gang unit members located a wanted subject, Felix Delarosa, at the Days Inn on Avenue A in Lubbock, Texas, at approximately 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18.
Upon the officers' arrival, Delarosa locked himself in his hotel room. When they attempted to make contact, he fired a shot from inside. In response, officers initiated barricaded subject protocol and called in the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team for assistance in apprehending him.
Negotiators and members of the SWAT team arrived and attempted to contact Felix when he fired a weapon.
Negotiators and Deputies continued to contact Delarosa by phone to get him to surrender peacefully. Delarosa fired another shot inside his room while in contact with the Deputies.
The release states Delarosa fired another shot a short time later, and then fired a round at officers. A member of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Sniper team fired one round at Felix hitting him.
At approximately 12:05 p.m. Delarosa exited the motel room and was taken into custody with the help of the Lubbock Regional Bomb Squad robot that extinguished a gas canister.

Delarosa was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to LCSO.
“The Texas Rangers have been contacted and will be investigating this matter,” LCSO stated. “The Deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave with pay per departmental policy and procedure.”
