As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Texans prepare for a record-breaking travel season. AAA estimates that 5.3 million Texans will travel at least 50 miles this Thanksgiving, making it the state's highest volume of holiday travel on record. With so many drivers on the road, many cities across Texas are seeing lower gas prices this week, offering some relief to motorists.

"Thanksgiving travelers in Texas will pay the lowest average gas prices for this holiday since the pandemic year of 2020," said Daniel Armbruster, a spokesperson for AAA Texas. "However, price fluctuations are still possible, as the high travel volume may put pressure on fuel demand in the coming days."

In a related report, the Energy Information Administration revealed a drop in gasoline demand, from 9.38 million barrels per day (b/d) last week to 8.41 million b/d this week. Meanwhile, gasoline stocks rose slightly, from 206.9 million barrels to 208.9 million barrels, although gasoline production decreased to an average of 9.3 million barrels per day.

With millions of Texans set to hit the road this Thanksgiving, experts urge drivers to be mindful of potential price changes as fuel demand surges.
