AMARILLO, TX — Buc-ee’s, the iconic gas station and travel stop known for its delicious food and famous buck-toothed beaver, officially opens in Amarillo today, Monday, December 16. The new location is situated at 9900 East Interstate 40.
The new Amarillo location will be 74,000 square feet and feature 108 fuel pumps, including 24 EV charging stations. As with all Buc-ee’s locations, the store will offer a variety of food options, including Texas BBQ, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky, and fresh pastries.
Local officials will attend the opening ceremony, including Amarillo Mayor Cole Stanley and several city council members. Buc-ee also credited former mayor Ginger Nelson with helping bring the project to life.
With the Amarillo store, Buc-ee’s will now have 51 locations across Texas and other states. The company has been expanding across the US since 2019, opening new locations in states like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Colorado. It also plans to open stores in Virginia, Mississippi, and Ohio soon.
“Opening this store in Amarillo is an exciting step for us as we continue to expand,” said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s. “We’re happy to be part of the Panhandle community and offer travelers a great place to stop.”
The new Amarillo store will create at least 200 jobs. Employees will enjoy competitive pay, full benefits, a 6% 401k match, and three weeks of paid vacation.
