Mendoza will lead the Frenship ISD Police Department, which comprises over 20 officers and security personnel dedicated to ensuring the safety of students and staff across the district.

Mendoza brings expertise gained from nearly three decades in law enforcement. He served over 24 years with the Lubbock Police Department (LPD), where he held multiple leadership roles, including Family Crimes Unit Commander, Office of Professional Standards Commander, Criminal Investigation Division Commander, and Deputy Chief of Police for the North Patrol Division. Following his tenure at LPD, Mendoza spent the past three and a half years as a school district police chief in a neighboring community, deepening his focus on school safety and security.

Mendoza’s background includes years as a school resource officer, a role that emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe learning environment for students and educators.

Mendoza holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice from Eastern New Mexico University, earned in 1996. He also received his TCOLE Master Peace Officer certification in 2006.

Over the next month, Mendoza will collaborate closely with Chief Bassett to ensure a seamless transition of leadership.
