LUBBOCK, TX — A woman was arrested after allegedly shooting her husband and assaulting another woman at a business in south Lubbock.
According to court documents, Lubbock Police officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault at the 12000 block of University Avenue on February 10. Upon investigation, officers determined that Vanessa Leanne Perez, 32, had arrived at her husband’s shop and confronted him about a relationship with another woman.
During the confrontation, Perez allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot her husband in the groin area. Perez’s husband managed to flee the scene and drive himself to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
When deputies arrived, Perez admitted to shooting her husband and attacking the woman who was with him. She told authorities that she had tried to shoot the woman but said her gun jammed.
Perez was transported to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, where she was read her Miranda rights. Documents stated that she admitted to both the shooting and the assault.
Vanessa Perez was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center, where she is being held on a $150,000 bond.
