Convicted Felon Nabbed for Assaulting Juvenile, Pregnant Woman

LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock Police arrested a convicted felon after a disturbance call led them to a home where a juvenile and a pregnant woman were allegedly assaulted.

According to court documents, officers were called to the 3000 block of E. 3rd Street after reports of a juvenile being punched and a pregnant woman being attacked by a man, who was also reportedly carrying a black pistol.

When police arrived, they spoke with the juvenile, who said Roderick Taylor, 28, hit her twice in the face. The pregnant woman, Taylor's girlfriend, first denied being assaulted but later admitted that Taylor “grabbed” her by the lip and scratched her nose in the process, causing it to bleed. Officers saw minor injuries that matched her story.

The juvenile also told officers that Taylor had a gun in his hoodie pocket during the incident. After obtaining consent from the residents, police searched the house and found the gun in a bedroom closet. Court documents stated that Taylor is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess a firearm.

A Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) check revealed that Taylor had an outstanding warrant. Based on the confirmation, police had enough evidence to arrest him for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and for Assault of a Pregnant Person.

Roderick Taylor was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center on February 17 and released on February 19 after posting bail, though the bond amount was not listed.

Roderick Taylor, 28, reportedly punched a juvenile and attacked a pregnant woman, who was also listed as a convicted felon and allegedly carrying a black pistol.
