All Three Lubbock Public School Districts Cancel Classes Tuesday, Jan. 27

LUBBOCK, TX — Lubbock Independent School District has canceled classes and all school-related activities for Tuesday, Jan. 27, citing continued extremely cold morning temperatures and potentially hazardous driving conditions.

All schools and administrative offices will be closed, and district employees will observe a planning day while working from home.

District officials said families and staff should continue monitoring email and text messages for weather-related updates, including the possibility of a delayed start on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Additional information regarding potential snow day makeups later in the semester will be announced.

The district will also repeat curbside meal pickups for families on Tuesday. From 10 to 11 a.m., Aramark, the district’s student nutrition partner, will provide meals at the following locations. Students do not need to be present, but individuals picking up meals should be prepared to provide the student’s home campus information:

  • Coronado High School, 4910 29th Drive, Door No. 26

  • Estacado High School, 1504 E. Itasca St., Door No. 23

  • Lubbock High School, 2004 19th St., Door No. 8

  • Monterey High School, 3211 47th St., Door No. 20

Officials reminded families and staff that official district communication regarding weather-related closures, delays or early dismissals will be sent via email and text. Updates will also be posted on the district’s website at www.lubbockisd.org and on its official Facebook and Instagram pages.
