LUBBOCK, TX – The Lubbock Police Department issued a scam alert on Wednesday, warning residents about a telephone scam involving an individual impersonating an officer.
The suspect is reportedly identifying himself as Sergeant Chris Miller and calling citizens to inform them that they have warrants and need to pay the Lubbock Police Department.
While there is a Sgt. Miller in the department, authorities confirmed that he is not involved in these calls.
Residents are advised to disregard any phone calls from the individual impersonating Sgt. Miller.
The Lubbock Police Department emphasized that it will never contact individuals to demand payment over the phone.
