Lubbock Police responded to a call about a crash at 98th Street and Quaker Avenue following multiple reports of a reckless driver in the area. Upon arrival, officers learned that the reckless driver was involved in the accident at the intersection.
According to court documents, the driver involved in the crash, Seth Blair, 35, refused to provide his information when asked by officers after several attempts. When the authorities tried to place him in handcuffs to confirm his identity, Blair resisted by pulling away and throwing a punch that hit one officer in the face.
Lubbock Police used a Taser on Blair, causing him to fall to the ground so officers could detain him.
A search of his property found a small plastic bag wrapped in electrical tape containing a white crystal substance, a sandwich-sized bag with a green leafy substance, and a grinder.
LPD checked Blair's information through the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) and revealed that he had outstanding warrants. Given his reckless driving and the drugs found in his possession, officers suspected that he was intoxicated and posing a danger to himself and others.
Blair was transported to the Lubbock County Jail, where he faces several charges, including assault of a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, DWI, failure to identify, possession of marijuana <2oz, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license invalid, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, and failure to drive in a single lane.
Seth Blair's bonds are set at $21,000, and he remains in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
