LUBBOCK, TX — On Inauguration Day, Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., shared her excitement about working with President Donald J. Trump and his new administration to make the U.S. stronger and help Texas continue to lead in energy production.
"Today is a historic and pivotal day for our state and country. I look forward to working with President Donald J. Trump and his new administration of exceptional leaders to restore the United States of America and ensure Texas remains a shining star in our nation," she said.
According to a press release, Buckingham manages 13 million acres of state land and looks forward to the administration's focus on energy independence. She believes this will help Texas grow even more on the global stage.
She also mentioned her office’s role in disaster recovery and her eagerness to work with the new Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to better help and shield Texans affected by disasters.
As the person in charge of protecting Texas' coastline and the Chairwoman of the Veterans Land Board, Buckingham is also working to secure funding to safeguard the coastline from natural disasters and make sure Texas veterans get the benefits they’ve earned through their selfless sacrifices.
"I’m ready to work with President Trump and his team to make Texas an even better place for its hardworking people," she said.
