Gas Prices Rise Across Texas, Lubbock Sees Increase

LUBBOCK, TX — The average gas price in Texas has risen to $2.74 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. This marks a five-cent increase compared to last week and a two-cent rise compared to last year.

In Texas, drivers in El Paso pay the highest prices, an average of $2.96 per gallon, while those in Wichita Falls pay the lowest, an average of $2.61 per gallon. Lubbock is sitting at an average of $2.66 per gallon.

The national average is also up to $3.13 per gallon, 3 cents higher than last week and 5 cents higher than last year.

While the statewide average has increased, the increase has not been the same in every city. Some areas in Texas have seen gas prices rise by just 2 cents, while others have increased by nearly 22 cents in just a week.

According to AAA, the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is $75.51 per barrel, more than $2 higher than at the beginning of the year but still down $3 from last week’s high.

Colder weather usually leads to lower gas demand, which could prevent gas prices from rising too much in the next few weeks.
